Sony Omni Directional Microphone

When I purchased the Sony A6000 camera it needed a microphone that worked with the hot shoe microphone input since it does actually have a microphone jack. So I found this Sony hot shoe microphone with a wind muff.

It’s been quite useful and I can even use on other cameras since the Sony microphone comes with a mic jack connector so you can use on other cameras. See my in depth review below.

Sony Omni Directional Microphone Review

The Sony omni directional microphone is one of my go-to microphones even when it’s not on my Sony A6000 camera, which is most of the time. Instead I use it on my Panasonic Lumix G85 vlogging camera. I do have a different Rode mic for the Lumix camera; however if I’m talking from behind the camera it doesn’t pick up my voice very well and sounds muffled. That’s because the particular Rode mic I added isn’t omni directional.

This is why I love the Sony omni directional microphone, because it cuts down on my editing time. I can talk in front of the camera, in back of the camera, to the side of the camera, and probably under the camera and it still sounds great. You can adjust the microphones to point forward or to the sides to get the omni directional audio input. Mine is almost always point out so it picks up my voice.

That’s why this microphone is my go-to 99% of the time when I’m vlogging. It even has a wind muff on it that works really well.

If you’re thinking of vlogging or creating documentaries where you are behind the camera talking, definitely look into the Sony omni directional microphone to save you time in the editing process and to ensure your audio is perfect for your film or video.
